  • only perform relaxation exercises in situations that do not require mental alertness and in circumstances that allow safe physical relaxation as well

  • make sure that you have returned fully to your normal mental state before moving on

  • stop listening or watching and joining with the exercise as soon as relaxation may lead to unpleasant or unwanted experiences
